“WE MUST DO MORE TO STOP IT”
by Sharon Rondeau
(Aug. 30, 2016) — In his January 24, 1995 State of the Union address, then-President William Jefferson Clinton, husband of current Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, decried the “large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country” to resounding applause from those in the gallery.
“The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants; the public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers,” Clinton asserted. “That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many illegal aliens as ever before…”
In the 1:24 clip of the nearly-two-hour speech, Clinton vowed to “do more to stop” the “abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years.”
He pledged to accelerate the deportation of illegals, particularly criminal illegals, and to identify illegal aliens in the workplace.
“We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws,” he said. “…We must do more to stop it,” Clinton concluded the segment, at which point many attendees stood up to show their support of his proposals.
