William Henry Harrison

William Henry Harrison (February 9, 1773 – April 4, 1841) was the ninth President of the United States (1841), an American military officer and politician, and the first president to die in office. He was 68 years, 23 days old when inaugurated, the oldest president to take office until Ronald Reagan in 1981, and last President to be born before the United States Declaration of Independence. Harrison died on his 32nd day in office[a] of complications from pneumonia, serving the shortest tenure in United States presidential history. His death sparked a brief constitutional crisis, but that crisis ultimately resolved many questions about presidential succession left unanswered by the Constitution until passage of the 25th Amendment.
Before election as president, Harrison served as the first territorial congressional delegate from the Northwest Territory, governor of the Indiana Territory and later as a U.S. representative and senator from Ohio. He originally gained national fame for leading U.S. forces against American Indians at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811,[1] where he earned the nickname “Tippecanoe” (or “Old Tippecanoe”). As a general in the subsequent War of 1812, his most notable contribution was a victory at the Battle of the Thames in 1813, which brought an end to hostilities in his region.
After the war, Harrison moved to Ohio, where he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, and in 1824 he became a member of the Senate. There he served a truncated term before being appointed as Minister Plenipotentiary to Colombia in May 1828. In Colombia, he spoke with Simón Bolívar urging his nation to adopt American-style democracy, before returning to his farm in Ohio, where he lived in relative retirement until he was nominated for the presidency in 1836. Defeated, he retired again to his farm before being elected president in 1840, and died of pneumonia in April 1841, a month after taking office.

Charles Woods: “Cowards in the White House” Murdered My son

  • Charles Woods: ‘Cowards’ in the White House ‘murdered’ my son

This is a rush transcript from “Hannity,” October 26, 2012. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: And tonight, breaking developments related to the Benghazi terror attack. Now, Fox News has exclusively learned that multiple requests for backup were made by the former Navy SEAL who died at the CIA Annex and those requests were in fact denied.

Now, all of this information was obtained by Fox News from sources who are on the ground that tragic day in Benghazi. Now, here is how this all played out. Now, former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was at the CIA Annex when he heard that shots had in fact been fired at the consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens was along with his team.

Not once but twice Woods and others at the annex requested from their higher ups permission to go and help those under attack. They were told both times to quote, “stand down.” And according to our sources, Woods and five other American heroes ignored those orders, they went to the consulate anyway, they evacuated those who were still in harm’s way and they searched for the ambassador but could not find him.

Now, the group later returned to the CIA Annex and requested for a third time military assistance. And again, they were denied by this administration. Now, earlier today, Fox News owned Jennifer Griffin explained in detail how these heroes could have in fact been saved.

JENNIFER GRIFFIN, FOX NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Four separate mortars were fired at the compound. One of those mortars killed Glen Doherty directly.

Another one hit there was a machine gun position on the roof, Tyrone Woods was hit at that time. But what I’m told by sources who were in Benghazi the night of the attack that they did have laser pointers on the mortar fire team and if special operations Specter gunships had been sent in, and some were on standby and teams were on standby in Seganelli (ph) just a few hour’s flight away, that they could have possibly prevented those mortars that struck the compound. They felt that help was not sent when they requested it.

HANNITY: Tyrone Woods risked his military career, he risked his life and ultimately gave his life, ignoring orders from his superiors to help save the lives of others and what did he get in return when he asked our government for help that was watching in real time? Nothing.

And the CIA is rejecting the notion that requests for help were denied by them. Now, according to a spokesman, quote, “We can say with confidence that the agency reacted quickly to aid our colleagues during that terrible evening in Benghazi.” Now, moreover, no one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need. Now, claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate. And today, earlier during a local interview, President Obama did what he always does, he dodged the question. Listen to this.

KYLE CLARK, WBNG-TV ANCHOR: Were the Americans under attack at the consulate in Benghazi Libya denied requests for help during that attack?

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Well, the election has nothing to do with four brave Americans getting killed and us wanting to find out exactly what happened. These are folks who served under me that I had sent to some very dangerous places. Nobody wants to find out more what happened than I do. But we want to make sure that we get it right particularly because I have made a commitment to the families impacted as well as the American people, we’re going to bring those folks to justice.

HANNITY: All right. Now, moments ago, I spoke with the father of this American hero Tyrone Woods to get reaction to these developments. An incredible interview. Here is what he had to say.

We have learned so much in the aftermath of this attack. And you know we’ve learned that the ambassador first requested security. It was denied.

We learned that while they were under attack that they requested security and none was forthcoming and we learned that they were watching this in the state department, Charlene Lamb said, they were watching this in Real Time, so everybody knew what was going on.

CHARLES WOODS, FATHER OF FALLEN NAVY SEAL TYRONE WOODS: Right, exactly. When I went back to Washington, D.C., when the bodies were flown in, I knew that something was fishy. It just — it was just obvious that something was wrong with this picture and in my mind, I questioned, you know, this was obviously a long drawn out battle. Why was there no immediate air support sent in that would have saved the lives of not just the other 30 people but also the life of my son who truly was an American hero?

Now, it has come out that pleas for help were made not just by the other individuals but also by my son and these pleas were turned down by the White House. Now, as you know I’m a retired attorney and I know that these actions legally do not constitute murder but in my mind the people in the White House, all of them who have authority to send in reinforcements to prevent what they knew was going to be the death of my son, are guilty of murdering my son.

There is new information that came out this morning that my son on a couple of different occasions requested permission to go to the aide of those 30 people who were being attacked and on at least two of those first occasions, he was told stay where you are at, let them die, don’t go, and it does not surprise me that my son disobeyed orders in order to save American lives. That is the type of American hero he was.

HANNITY: Let me — so after he was told to stand down, as I understand that there were numerous other pleas for help and your son actually as I understand it rescued many people and got them out of the consulate. Is that true?

WOODS: You know, one of the real touching e-mails I got was — I won’t mention a name but I received an e-mail from someone who said, your son’s sacrifice saved my life and he saved more than one life and that is the type of man he was. That is the type of leadership the military needs.

HANNITY: So, if he would have obeyed that order to stand down rather than help the ambassador’s team, that person is telling you they wouldn’t be alive today.

    WOODS: That is correct.

    HANNITY: And then —

WOODS: And many other people as well.

HANNITY: And your son first got involved, was told to stand down after they heard shots at approximately 9:40 p.m. Now, as I understand it, it wasn’t until about 4:00 a.m. the next day that your son, after he had rescued other people, was still fighting in this attack and it was then that he took on mortar fire?

WOODS: That is my understanding. For seven hours the cowards in the White House were watching something they knew that was going to potentially kill those 30 people and potentially kill my son and they refused to do that even though they had a moral duty to send support they chose not to. This is not the way the SEALs operate. The SEALs are an honorable unit and Ty was honorable by disobeying the powers in the White House that told him not to rescue those lives.

HANNITY: Your son was told to stand down. Here’s a Navy SEAL, with all the time and training and effort, he risks his military career, risks his life for seven full hours, rescues all these people. Multiple requests throughout the entire period go, it is being watched in real time and nobody sends any help. I can’t fathom this. And then we are told the president goes out there for two weeks and couldn’t admit that this is a terrorist attack. Why do you think that he tried to blame it on this video or denied that it was a terror attack?

WOODS: You know, unfortunately, Sean, we have a generation of liars who have no moral background. Hopefully my son’s sacrifice and his moral courage and his moral strength will encourage our next generation to be completely different, that we will change our direction, that we will raise up a new generation of true American heroes such as my son who have moral courage and who are not liars like too many people in authority are nowadays.

HANNITY: I know you met the president and you met Hillary Clinton, when they had this service.

WOODS: That is, correct. At Andrew’s Air Force Base.

HANNITY: At Andrew’s Air Force Base.

WOODS: When the bodies were flown in.

HANNITY: You said, the president couldn’t look you in the eye and it was like shaking hands with a dead fish.

    WOODS: That’s exactly right. Yes.

HANNITY: And so, you felt he couldn’t look you in the eye and that basically he felt no empathy and you said the same thing pretty much about Hillary Clinton?

October 31: Matthew Chapter Eleven in Blank Verse by Day Williams

When Jesus had concluded giving his
Twelve followers these guidelines, he went on
From there to teach and preach in Galilee’s

Villages. John the Baptist, who was now
In prison, heard what Christ was doing, so
He sent his followers to ask, “Are you

The one who was to come, or shall we keep
On looking?” Jesus answered, “Go and tell
John what you hear and see: The blind receive

Their sight, the lame walk, those with leprosy
Are cured, the deaf can hear, the dead are raised,
And the good news is preached unto the poor.

Happy the man who does not fall away
Because of me.” As John’s disciples were
Departing, Jesus started speaking to

The crowd concerning John the Baptist: “What
Did you go out into the wilderness
To see? A reed that rippled in the breeze?

If not, what did you go to see? A man
Dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes
Are in kings’ palaces. Then what did you

Go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell
You, and more than a prophet. This is he
Of whom the Scripture says: ‘Behold, I send

My messenger ahead of you, who will
Prepare your way ahead of you.’ Believe
Me that among those born of women none

Greater than John the Baptist has arisen,
And yet the least in Heaven’s Kingdom is
Greater than he. From John the Baptist’s days

Until now, Heaven’s Kingdom has been taken
By storm, and forceful men lay hold of it.
For all the Prophets and the Law foretold

It till the time of John. And if you will
Accept it, he is the Elijah whom
The prophets said would come. He who has ears

To hear must listen now. How can I show
You what this generation’s like? They are
Like children sitting in the marketplace

And calling to their friends: ‘We played the flute
For you, and yet you did not dance; we sang
A dirge, and yet you did not mourn.’ For John

Appeared in strict austerity, and they
Remarked, ‘He has a demon.’ Then the Son
Of Man appeared, enjoying life, and they

Remarked, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunk,
A friend of tax collectors who consorts
With sinners! And yet wisdom is proved right

By her own actions.” Jesus then began
Denouncing cities where he had performed
Most of his miracles, for they did not

Repent. “Alas to you, Korazin! Woe
To you, Bethsaida! Because if Tyre
And Sidon had beheld the miracles

Which you have seen, they’d have repented long
Ago in sackcloth and in ashes. But
I tell you, it will be more bearable

For Tyre and Sidon on the judgment day
Than you. And you, Capernaum, will you
Be lifted to the skies? No, you will go

Down to the depths. For if the miracles
That were performed in you had been performed
In Sodom, it would still be standing. But

I tell you it will be more bearable
For Sodom on the day of judgment than
For you.” Then Jesus said, “I praise you, Father,

Lord of heaven and earth, because you have
Concealed these things from those who think themselves
So wise and learned, and revealed them to

The little children. Yes, I thank you, Father,
For this was your good pleasure. Everything’s
Been put in my hands by my Father. No

One knows the Son except the Father, and
Nobody knows the Father but the Son
And those the Son decides to show him to.

Come to me, all you who are weary and
Burdened, and I will give you rest. Put on
My yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle,

Humble in heart; your souls will rest aright,
For my yoke’s easy and my burden’s light.”

The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002

The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 (BCRA, McCain–Feingold Act, Pub.L. 107-155, 116 Stat. 81, enacted March 27, 2002, H.R. 2356) is a United States federal law that amended the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, which regulates the financing of political campaigns. Its chief sponsors were Senators Russ Feingold (D-WI) and John McCain (R-AZ). The law became effective on 6 November 2002, and the new legal limits became effective on January 1, 2003.[1]
As noted in McConnell v. Federal Election Commission, a United States Supreme Court ruling on the BCRA, the Act was designed to address two issues:
The increased role of soft money in campaign financing, by prohibiting national political party committees from raising or spending any funds not subject to federal limits, even for state and local races or issue discussion;
The proliferation of issue advocacy ads, by defining as “electioneering communications” broadcast ads that name a federal candidate within 30 days of a primary or caucus or 60 days of a general election, and prohibiting any such ad paid for by a corporation (including non-profit issue organizations such as Right to Life or the Environmental Defense Fund) or paid for by an unincorporated entity using any corporate or union general treasury funds. The decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission overturns this provision, but not the ban on foreign corporations or foreign nationals in decisions regarding political spending.[2]
Although the legislation is known as “McCain–Feingold”, the Senate version is not the bill that became law. Instead, the companion legislation, H.R. 2356—introduced by Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT), is the version that became law. Shays–Meehan was originally introduced as H.R. 380.[3]

Outrage: Facebook Censors Navy SEALs to Protect Obama on Benghazi-Gate

by AWR HAWKINS 30 Oct 2012, 1:20 PM PDT 472POST A COMMENT

Over the weekend, Facebook took down a message by the Special Operations Speaks PAC (SOS) which highlighted the fact that Obama denied backup to the forces being overrun in Benghazi.

The message was contained in a meme which demonstrated how Obama had relied on the SEALS when he was ready to let them get Osama bin Laden, and how he had turned around and denied them when they called for backup on Sept 11.

I spoke with Larry Ward, president of Political Media, Inc — the media company that handles SOS postings and media production. Ward was the one who personally put the Navy SEAL meme up, and the one who received the warning from Facebook and an eventual 24 hour suspension from Facebook  because Ward put the meme back up after Facebook told him to take it down.

Here’s what Ward told me:

We created and posted this meme on Saturday after news broke that Obama had known and denied SEALS the backup they requested.

Once the meme was up it garnered 30,000 shares, approx. 24,000 likes, and was read by hundreds of thousands of people — all within 24 hrs. On Sunday, I went into the SOS Facebook page to post something else and found a warning from Facebook that we had violated Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities with our meme. So I copied the warning, put it on the meme as as caption, and re-posted the meme to the Facebook page.

Along with the re-posted meme, Ward put a link to the Facebook “feedback comment” inbox so visitors to the SOS page could send a message to Facebook if they were as outraged over the meme being jerked down as he was.

Martin Van Buren

Martin Van Buren (Dutch: Maarten van Buren pronunciation (help·info) ; December 5, 1782 – July 24, 1862) was the eighth President of the United States (1837–1841). Before his presidency, he was the eighth Vice President (1833–1837) and the tenth Secretary of State, under Andrew Jackson (1829–1831).
Van Buren was a key organizer of the Democratic Party, a dominant figure in the Second Party System, and the first president not of British or Irish descent—his family was Dutch. He was the first president to be born a United States citizen,[2] his predecessors having been born British subjects before the American Revolution.[3] He is also the only president not to have spoken English as his first language, having grown up speaking Dutch,[4] and the first president from New York.
As Andrew Jackson’s Secretary of State and then Vice President, Van Buren was a key figure in building the organizational structure for Jacksonian democracy, particularly in New York State. As president, he did not want the United States to annex Texas, an act which John Tyler would achieve eight years after Van Buren’s initial rejection. Between the bloodless Aroostook War and the Caroline Affair, relations with Britain and its colonies in Canada also proved to be strained.
His administration was largely characterized by the economic hardship of his time, the Panic of 1837. He was scapegoated for the depression and called “Martin Van Ruin” by his political opponents. Van Buren was voted out of office after four years, losing to Whig candidate William Henry Harrison.
In the 1848 election Van Buren ran unsuccessfully for president on a third-party ticket, the Free Soil Party.
