Poems from “Light of Day”

You’ve Lost Desire

You’ve lost desire

For Spirit fire;

Let Him love you

And take you higher.

Bear the Cross

You have to bear

The cross each day,

Stay true to God,

And keep His way.

God’s Call

I hear God’s call;

There I must go;

What will befall,

I do not know.

Great Victories

God gives his king

Great victories

And heals the sick

From their disease.

In Freedom

In freedom we

Will see Christ reign

No tragedies,

No tears, no pain.

Light of Day cover light rays b

That All Be Saved

Though some will drown

Beneath their waves,

The Savior came

That all be saved.

Let Visions Come

Let visions come

And dreamers dream;

Send forth God’s light

In ocean streams.

1 So Christ has set us free. Stand firm in that

Freedom and do not let yourselves again

Be tangled up in chains of slavery.

2 Listen to me! I, Paul, tell you that if

You let yourselves be circumcised, then Christ

Will be no benefit to you at all.

3 Again I say to every man who lets

Himself be circumcised he has a debt

To follow everything that’s in the law.

4 You who are trying to be justified

By law have been estranged from Christ; you have

Fallen away from grace, 5 for by our faith

And through the Spirit we await the hope

Of righteousness, 6 for in Christ Jesus neither

Circumcision nor uncircumcision

Has any value. All that counts is faith

That works through love. 7 You ran a solid race.

Who cut you off so you would not obey

The truth? 8 It isn’t God who’s done it, for

He has called you. 9 “A little yeast works through

All of the batch of dough.” 10 I’m confident

In God that you will take no other view.

He’ll pay the penalty, whoever he

May be, the one who’s troubling you, 11 and I,

Brothers, if I’m still preaching circumcision,

Why am I being persecuted still?

If I had preached that, I’d be persecuted

No more for then that stumbling block, the cross,

Had been removed. 12 As for those agitators,

I wish that they would do a thorough job,

And go emasculate themselves! 13 You, my

Brothers, were called to freedom, but don’t use

Your freedom to indulge the sinful nature;

Rather, assist each other in God’s love.

14 All of the law is summarized in one

Command, this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

15 But if you bite and chew on one another,

Watch out or you’ll destroy each other. 16 So

I say then, live according to the Spirit,

And you won’t gratify the cravings of

The sinful nature, 17 for the sinful nature

Desires what is against the Spirit, and

The Spirit what’s against the sinful nature.

They are in conflict with each other, so that

You don’t do what you want; 18 but if you are

Led by the Spirit, you’re not under law.

19 Acts of the sinful flesh are plain to see:

Adultery and immorality,

Impurity and hedonism and

20 Idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, fighting,

Jealousy, anger, selfish pushiness,

Dissensions, factions, 21 envy; drunkenness,

Wild parties, and the like. I warn you now

As I have done before, that those who live

Like this will not receive the kingdom of

God, 22 but the Spirit’s fruit is love, joy, peace,

Patience and kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 And self-control and gentleness. Against

Such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong

To Jesus Christ have crucified the flesh,

Its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by

The Spirit, let’s keep walking with the Spirit.

26 Let’s not become conceited, which would lead

To animosity and hurt indeed.
