Psalm Twenty-Six

PSALM TWENTY-SIX

Of David.

1 Vindicate me, O Lord, for I

Have led a blameless life; I have

Trusted the Lord, not wavering;

2 Test me, O Lord, try me; inspect

My heart and mind; 3 because your love’s

Ever before me, and I walk

Continually in your truth.

4 I do not sit with two-faced men;

I’m not friends with hypocrites;

5 I do not join a gathering

Of bullies; I refuse to sit

With criminals; 6 I wash my hands

In innocence and go about

Your altar, Lord, 7 as I proclaim

Aloud your praise and tell about

Your wondrous deeds. 8 I love the house

Where you reside, O Lord, the place

Your glory dwells; 9 don’t take away

My soul along with sinners, do

Not take my life with vicious men

10 Whose hands are full of evil schemes,

Whose right hands clutch their bribes, but I,

11 I lead a blameless life; redeem

Me and be merciful to me,

12 As my feet stand on level ground,

And in the great assembly I

Praise the Lord morning through the night.
