The Lord is Gracious

The Lord is Gracious

Lord,
You are gracious,
Slow to anger
And abounding in love.
Thank you for your patience,
And please, oh Lord,
Give me the strength and faith
To carry out your will,
Your plan for me.

Though I may fall
A thousand times,
You’ll be there
To lift me back up,
To set me right again,

A thousand times
You’ll be there
Night and day
Always
Even to the end of time.

Castle

Castle

Castle in the Sky

The castle you have built in air
Will fall, your Everest visions, fade.
You’ve mounted steps of a glass stair
Which creaks and crumbles from your weight.

God’s wisdom, free, costs everything;
The earth will shake, the sky will crack,
Your easy chair will rock and fling
You forth; you’ll crawl while on your back.

Don’t wait for Him to call you in,
For fire and flames will claim your place,
You want both Him and precious sin:
You lose before you start the race.

From fools He forms the wisest men,
From worldly wise men he forms fools.
Let down your guard, make Him your friend,
He’ll take you to eternal schools.

The Honest Feminist

The Honest Feminist

“This is my studio apartment. Not big, but big enough for a bed that sleeps two. By the way, thanks for the drinks at the bar. Now (she starts undressing) I want to be up front with you. I’m a feminist, an honest feminist. You should know that I sleep with a different man every weekend. Sometimes one on Friday night, another on Saturday night. My body, my choice. The odds that I have a venereal disease are fairly high, just so you know.
“If you get me pregnant, I won’t consult with you about the choice. What? Don’t give me that biology textbook stuff. The Supreme Court doesn’t care, so why should I? I know my rights. It’s my body, so if I want an abortion, I’ll get it, and you’ll pay for it. You’re the sperm donor. That’s why I copied down your credit card numbers when we came in the door.
“If I decide to have the baby, we won’t get married, because I don’t believe in faithfulness. I want to explore all the possibilities. My body, my choice. I will make sure that you pay child support for 18 years, and you can see the child every other weekend. So, let’s climb into bed, shall we? What was your name again?”

LEVITICUS CHAPTER FIFTEEN

LEVITICUS CHAPTER FIFTEEN

1 The Lord told Moses and told Aaron, 2 “Tell

The Israelites this rule: ‘When any man

Has a strange discharge from his body, such

A discharge is unclean. 3 No matter if

It keeps on flowing from his body or

Is stopped up, it will make him unclean. This

Is how his discharge will bring on uncleanness:

4 A bed the man who has a discharge lies

On will be unclean, and whatever he

May sit on will be unclean. 5 Anyone

Who feels his bed must wash their clothes and bathe

With water, and they will be unclean till

Evening. 6 Whoever sits on anything

The man who had a discharge sat on has

To wash their clothes and bathe with water, and

They will be unclean till the evening. If

7 Somebody goes to touch the man who has

A discharge, they must wash their clothes and bathe

With water, and they will be unclean till

Evening, 8 and if the man who has the discharge

Spits on a person who is clean, they have

To wash their clothes and bathe with water, and

They will be unclean till the evening. 9 All

The man sits on when riding will be unclean;

10 Whoever touches any of the things

That were beneath him will be unclean till

Evening; whoever picks up those things has

To wash their clothes and bathe with water, and

They will be unclean till the evening, and

11 Anybody the man who has a discharge touches

Without rinsing his hands with water has

To wash their clothes and bathe with water, and

They will be unclean till the evening; you

12 Must break a clay pot that the man has touched,

And you must rinse a wooden article

With water. 13 When a man is cleansed from his

Discharge, he is to count off seven days

To have his ceremonial cleansing; he

Must wash his clothes and bathe himself with some

Fresh water, and he will be clean, 14 and when

The eighth day comes, he is to take two doves

Or two young pigeons and shall come before

The Lord to the tent of meeting entrance and

Give the priest them. 15 The priest is to

Sacrifice them, one for sin offering,

One for burnt offering. In this way he’ll

Atone before the Lord for him due to

His discharge. 16 When a man emits his semen,

He has to bathe his entire body with

Some water, and he will be unclean till

The evening. 17 Any clothing or some leather

With semen on it must be washed with water;

It will be unclean till the evening. 18 When

A man has sexual relations with

A woman and ejaculates, they both

Must bathe with water; they’ll be unclean ‘til

Evening. 19 Now when a woman has her normal

Blood flow, her monthly period makes her

Impure for seven days, and anyone

Who touches her will be unclean till evening.

20 Anything that she lies on when she’s on

Her period will be unclean, and what

She sits on will be unclean. 21 Anyone

Who feels her bed is unclean; they must wash

Their clothes and bathe with water, and they will

Be unclean till the evening. 22 Anyone who

Touches anything she sits on will

Be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe

With water, and they will be unclean till

The evening. 23 Whether it’s the bed or something

She sat on, when a person touches it,

They will be unclean till the evening. 24 If

A man has sex with her and her blood flow

Touches him, he’ll be unclean seven days,

And any bed he lies on will be unclean.

25 Now when a woman discharges her blood

For many days when she is not on her

Monthly period or she has a discharge

That keeps on past her period, she will

Be unclean as long as she has the discharge,

As in the days she has her period.

26 Whatever bed she lies on while her discharge

Continues will be unclean, as will her

Bed in her monthly period, and what

She sits on will be unclean, the same as

During her period. 27 Whoever touches

Them will be unclean; they must wash their clothes

And bathe with water, and they will be unclean

Till evening. 28 When she has been properly

Cleansed from her discharge, she must then count off

Seven days; after that she will be clean

Ceremonially. 29 On the eighth day

She has to take two doves or two young pigeons

And bring them to the priest right at the meeting

Tent entrance, 30 and the priest shall sacrifice

One for an offering for sin, the other

For a burnt offering, and in this way

He will atone for her before the Lord

For the impurity of her own discharge.

31 You have to separate the Israelites

From things that make them unclean, so they will

Not die in their uncleanness for defiling

My dwelling place, which is among them. These

Are regulations for a man who has

A discharge, for somebody made unclean

By an emission of some semen, 33 for

A woman in her monthly period,

For any man or woman with a discharge,

Or man with sexual intimacy

With a woman who is unclean ritually.”
