1 God spoke to Moses in the Sinai Desert

In the first month within the second year

After they came from Egypt, saying, 2 “Have

Israelites celebrate the Passover

At the appointed time, 3 and celebrate

It at th’appointed time, at twilight on

The fourteenth day of this month, by its rules

And regulations.” 4 Moses therefore told

The Israelites to go and celebrate

The Passover, 5 and in the Sinai Desert

They did at twilight on the fourteenth day

Of the first month. The Israelites did all

Things as the LORD commanded Moses. 6 But

Some could not celebrate the Passover

That day, for they were ceremonially

Unclean because of a dead body. So

They came to Moses and to Aaron that

Same day 7 and said to Moses, “We’ve become

Unclean because of a dead body, but

Why should we be kept from presenting God’s

Offering with the other Israelites

At the appointed time?” 8 And Moses said

To them, “Wait ‘til I find out what the LORD

Commands about you.” 9 Then the LORD told Moses,

10 “Inform the Israelites: ‘When any one

Of you or your descendants are unclean

Because of a dead body or you are

Off on a trip, they may still celebrate

God’s Passover, 11 and they shall celebrate

It on the fourteenth day, the second month,

At twilight. They shall eat the lamb, together

With the unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

12 And they must not leave any of it till

Morn or break any of its bones. When they

Go celebrate the Passover, they have

To follow all the regulations. 13 But

If someone who is ceremonially

Clean and who is not traveling shall fail

To celebrate the Passover, you must

Cut off that person from his people, for

He did not give the Lord an offering

At the appointed time. That man will bear

The burden of his sin. 14 An alien

Who lives with you and wants to celebrate

God’s Passover has to comply with its

Statutes and regulations. Regulations

For alien and native-born shall be

The same.’” 15 And on the day the tabernacle,

The Tent of Testimony, was set up,

The cloud obscured it, and from evening till

Morning the cloud above the tabernacle

Looked like a fire, 16 which is how it continued;

The cloud obscured it, and at night it looked

Like fire, 17 and when the cloud went up from above

The Tent, the Israelites set out; and where

The cloud did settle, Israelites

Encamped. 18 At God’s command the Israelites

Set out, and at the Lord’s command they camped.

While the cloud stayed above the tabernacle,

They stayed in camp. 19 And when the cloud remained

Over the tabernacle a long time,

The Israelites obeyed the Lord’s command

And did not set out. 20 Sometimes the same cloud

Floated above the tabernacle only

A few days; at the Lord’s command they would

Encamp, and then at his command they would

Set out. 21 At times the cloud stayed only from

Evening till morning, and when it went up in

The morning, they did set out. Whether by

Day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted,

They set out. 22 Whether the cloud stayed above

The tabernacle for two days or for

A month or year, the Israelites would stay

In camp and not set out; but when it lifted,

They would set out. 23 At God’s command they would

Encamp; at God’s command they would set out.

And they obeyed God’s order, in accordance

With his command through Moses.
