Love and Life

Love and Life

I may not be a famous man,
Or one who makes a hero’s plans.
I do not have a Ph.D.
Or Pulitzers in poetry.
But still I see some trouble here
(I want to be exact and clear);
I see great evil in the land,
Corruption hard to understand.

They’re killing babies left and right,
And I’m opposed with all my might.
A baby has the right to live,
To grow and laugh, to cry and give.
A baby isn’t just a rag
To toss into a bloody bag.

A baby’s us, she’s you and me,
With head and heart, with thumbs and knees.
When zygotes form within their wombs,
God forbid those wombs be tombs.
God says those lives must thrive and grow,
To see the worlds of sun and snow,
To lie upon their mothers’ breasts,
To learn and play, to work and rest.

To take those lives is no small crime,
A Holocaust that taints our time.
Soon the Lord will cast His pall:
May He have mercy on us all.

Trust Not in Mortal Men

Trust Not in Mortal Men

It is better to trust in the Lord

than to put confidence in man.

~Psalm 118:8

Don’t put your trust in mortal men:

They’ll only let you down;

Better to trust Lord Jesus Christ

And stand on solid ground.

“Tyranny at Bay” by Day Williams

Tyranny at Bay

Bill Cooper warned they’d use school massacres
To try to make the people give up guns;
To the “Elite,” we’re worthless sheep and curs,
And shaping what we think and do is fun.

The Founders knew how power will corrupt,
How those in power grasp and don’t relent;
That’s why they wrote Amendment Number Two,
For guns defend against harsh government.

The atheists who worship government
Overlook the deceit in hearts of clay;
When godless men take power, no restraint
Keeps them from harming those who block their way,

Except it’s difficult to bring them harm–
And tyrants and their troops are held at bay–
When watchful patriots, well-trained, well-armed,
Prepare to shoot when power breaks astray.

SECOND CHRONICLES CHAPTER NINETEEN

SECOND CHRONICLES CHAPTER NINETEEN

1 Jehoshaphat went safely back to his

Own palace in Jerusalem, 2 but prophet

Jehu, Hanani’s son, met him and said:

“By helping wicked Ahab, you’ve made friends

With somebody who hates the Lord, so now

The Lord God is enraged with you! 3 But not

All things concerning you are bad. You have

               Destroyed the sacred poles they used to worship

The goddess Asherah—that shows you have

Tried to obey the Lord. 4 Jehoshaphat

Lived in Jerusalem, but often traveled

His kingdom, from Beersheba in the south

Up to the edge of the hills of Ephraim

Up north. He talked with people and convinced

Them to turn back to the Lord God and worship

Him, as their ancestors had done, 5 and he

Assigned some judges to each fortified

City in Judah 6 and told them: Be careful

When you make your court rulings, for these are

God’s people, and he’ll know what you decide,

 7 So do your work to honor him and know

He won’t let you treat anyone unfairly

Or take a bribe. 8 Jehoshaphat also chose

some Levites,

Some priests and family leaders, too, and he

Appointed them to serve as judges in

Jerusalem 9 and told them: “Faithfully

Serve God 10 and Judah’s people will bring you

Some legal cases that involve each type

Of crime, including murder. You must settle

These cases and you have to warn the people

To stop their sins against the Lord, so that

He won’t get mad and punish Judah. You

Remember, if you follow these instructions,

You won’t be held responsible for things

That happen. 11 In any religious case

Amariah the high priest is to have

The final say. And Zebadiah, head

Of Judah’s tribe, will have the final say

In other cases; the remainder of

The Levites will help you; be strong all through;

               And God will be beside the right and true.
