LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

The group gathers on West Sahara each Thursday, seven to 10 strong, some wearing bucket hats, all holding rosary beads. Their homemade signs read:

“Abortion Kills Children.”

“Abortion Hurts Women.”

Those words are as controversial as the group gets. If you weren’t close enough to read them, chances are you might drive by without noticing the group at all.

The decades-long battle between abortion opponents and pro-choice forces is often emotionally charged and sometimes only seen at its extremes.

But the Thursday morning Sahara prayer group – with the five other prayer groups that gather outside of businesses where abortions are performed in the Las Vegas Valley – takes a more peaceful approach.

“I think there is a line,” Tom Tassio, a member of the Sahara Avenue prayer group for almost a year, said. “For me and the people here, this is more of a spiritual vocation. We’re here to change people’s hearts, not to be in their face.”

The Sahara group is led by Tim and Tammy Raba, a Las Vegas couple who have participated in prayer groups in Las Vegas for the past eight years. Members include parishioners of the nearby St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church on Pueblo Vista. They gather after Thursday morning Mass.

The location of the weekly prayer meeting has shifted, making stops at Planned Parenthood and University Medical Center before settling in outside the Woman to Woman Gynecology clinic on West Sahara Avenue about a year ago. Officials from the gynecology center declined to comment about the prayer group.

But such groups are about “so much more than just abortion,” said Annette Magnus, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada. “It’s about giving women a right to make a choice that’s best for her body.”

Those choices include connecting clients with resources for parenting, adoption and abortion. About 97 percent of the work Planned Parenthood does locally is preventative services including contraception, pap smears and breast exams, Magnus said. The agency serves about 38,000 people annually at its three Southern Nevada locations.

Despite the shift in location, the prayer group’s approach — and its anti-abortion message – have stayed the same.

Members stand on the sidewalk by the entrance of the parking lot to the gynecology center, which provides abortions. They don’t approach anyone or hand out pamphlets, instead opting to speak with people about alternative options to abortions only when someone approaches. Mostly, they clasp their rosaries and pray.

“It draws public attention to the right to life of the unborn child,” Father John McShane said. “It’s also a prayer witness that we are praying to God to move the hearts of people to favor the right to life of unborn children.”

During previous prayer meetings on Sahara, members have heard “Thank you” and “God bless you.”

They’ve also been told to mind their own business and get jobs.

But Thursday no one seemed especially happy or upset by the group’s presence.

Sounds of traffic muffled the softly spoken calls of “Hail Mary” and “Holy Father.”

The prayers started to wind down. Six members gathered in a circle for a final one.

Tassio stood nearby, answering a question about the impact he thinks his small group has made.

“I haven’t heard someone say, ‘You changed my mind and now I have a 2-year-old daughter,’ ” he said. “That would be cool.”

Athletics

Since its founding in 1992, Galena has gone on to win either a league, regional or state championship in every sport played at the school. The Grizzlies used to belong to the High Desert League of the Northern Nevada 4A Region, until the realignment of the 2 leagues in the summer of 2008. They are now part of the Sierra League of the Northern Nevada 4A Region. They completed the first ever Northern Nevada 4A Region Triple Crown in 2007 after winning the football, basketball, and baseball titles.[2]

Basketball
The 2007 Grizzlies boys basketball team brought home the school’s first state championship with a 54-51 win over Mojave High School of North Las Vegas. The game, which gave Northern Nevada back-to-back state titles for the first time in over 60 years (the Reno Huskies won the 2006 championship), was played at the Orleans Arena inside the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on February 23, 2007.[3] After winning the state championship, junior forward Luke Babbitt verbally committed to play Division I NCAA basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes, beginning with the 2008-2009 season.[4] However, in June 2007, Babbitt de-committed from Ohio State and decided to stay home to play for the Nevada Wolf Pack.
Luke Babbit left the Nevada Wolf Pack before his junior year to be eligible for the NBA draft. On June 24, 2010, Luke was the 16th overall draft pick in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers where he currently plays as a Small Forward.
Cross Country
The 2007 boys cross country team brought home the school’s second state championship, the first since 2001. The team won eleven of the fourteen races they competed in. These included victories at the prestigious Nevada Union Invite and the Stanford Division Two Invitational. They took second at the Mount San Antonio Invite to Barstow, CA, in the process defeating #9 in the South West Region (UT, WY, NV, AZ, NM) Rio Ricco. Flying under the regional and national radar for most of the season, the team then debuted in the regional rankings at #7. The team won regionals over five time defending state champion Reno High School easily, winning with a final margin of 26 to 72. The next week the team again overwhelmed the rest of Nevada in the 4A state championships winning 82 to 39. Nine points off the state record of 30 set by Reno. At the Southwest Regional Championships hosted by Nike, the team took third. Defeating #6 in the nation and Colorado 5A Champions Wheat Ridge High School and #18 Timpview High School. They were 19 points short of defeating #3 in the nation Albuquerque Academy and #8 Los Alamos High School, both of New Mexico. The team received an invite to the Nike Team National Championships, which took place December 1 in Portland, Oregon. They were 1 of 18 teams to be invited, with the top 4 being selected. On November 23 the team cracked the Super Harrier 25, debuting at #20 in the nation. They would sadly be passed over for a berth to Nike Team Nationals. Nike would instead select Rogers, of Arkansas, the class 7A champions who won their state meet with a score of 16 points, but still outside of the top 25. After Nike Team Nationals which Galena was excluded from, Galena moved up to #16, ahead of Rogers and every bubble team taken before them. Academy and Los Alamos would finish the season #2 and #3 in the nation respectively. The No. 16 rank is the best finish by Galena High School and by any Nevada team in cross country history.
Football
Galena’s football program was notorious for their terrible record for nearly the first decade of the school’s existence. The Grizzlies were a regular favorite for other schools to play at their homecoming games because it usually meant an easy victory for the home team. In 2000, however, a turning point was reached as Galena reached the playoffs for the first time, losing to the South Tahoe Vikings in the first round. In 2001, the Grizzlies recorded their first winning season, going 7-4 and winning a first round playoff game against Hug High School. In 2002, the Grizzlies recorded another 7 win season but still failed to make the 2nd round of the playoffs. This season was followed by two down years, though Galena defeated the then #1 ranked team in Northern Nevada, Bishop Manogue High School on a last second 56-yard field goal.
After that, Galena did progressively better until the record-breaking 2006 season, when Galena once again defeated Manogue to take the Regional Championship. Although defeated by the Las Vegas Wildcats in the State Championship Game, the football team had managed to achieve what none of their predecessors could do.
With a Galena win in early October, the 2006 season also marked the end of the McQueen Lancers’ uninterrupted string of victories against the Grizzlies that had dated back to 1992.

House Files Suit against Attorney General Eric Holder

Written by
LARRY MARGASAK
Associated Press
WASHINGTON — The Republican-run House on Monday asked a federal court to enforce a subpoena against Attorney General Eric Holder, demanding that he produce records on a bungled gun-tracking operation known as Operation Fast and Furious.

The lawsuit asked the court to reject a claim by President Barack Obama asserting executive privilege, a legal position designed to protect certain internal administration communications from disclosure.

The failure of Holder and House Republicans to work out a deal on the documents led to votes in June that held the attorney general in civil and criminal contempt of Congress. The civil contempt resolution led to Monday’s lawsuit.

Holder refused requests by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to hand over — without preconditions — documents that could explain why the Justice Department initially denied in February 2011 that a risky tactic was used to allow firearms to “walk” from Arizona to Mexico.

Federal agents lost track of many of the guns. The operation identified more than 2,000 illicitly purchased weapons, and some 1,400 of them have yet to be recovered.

The department failed to acknowledge its incorrect statement for 10 months.

“Portentously, the (Justice) Department from the outset actively resisted cooperating fully with the committee’s investigation,” the lawsuit said.

Origin of Left and Right

Origin of Left and Right

I have often wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the “right” and Liberals are called the “left.”

By chance I stumbled upon this verse in the Bible:
“The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.” ~Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)

Thus sayeth the Lord. Amen.

Wooster Fight Song

The Wooster Colts will ride the side of victory!
We’ll back them up with spirit that is hard to beat!
Our men will fight for the Scarlet and White,
And we’ll go far because we are
The C-O-L-T-S, the Wooster COLTS!
History

Earl Wooster High School, named after an early Washoe County School District president and psychologist, is mostly known for its athletic achievements, although its scholastic standards were high as well. Wooster produced a Presidential Scholar, the highest scholastic award for a high school senior, in 1965 (Doug Samuelson) and again in 1967 (Tony Moore), and a number of other awards. For many years between the 1970s and late 1990s, Wooster dominated varsity football, baseball, and wrestling. In recent years Wooster’s notability has shifted from a concentration on its athletics to its academic achievements. This is likely due to the addition of the International Baccalaureate program in 1996. Since that time, hundreds of students have used this program to further their education in college and beyond.[2]

Campus

Located near the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Wooster is an open courtyard high school that has individual buildings separated by a covered walkway. There is a large metal and auto shop where industrial education classes are held. Wooster has two gyms and three playing fields, the main one named Joe “Mac” Sellers, after its most famous football coach. The auto shop classes were dropped between the 2003 and 2004 school years.

Extracurricular activities

Athletics
Wooster competes in the Sierra League which belongs to the Northern Nevada 4A Region.
Wooster High’s varsity basketball, baseball, and football teams have won the state title many times in the school’s history. Joe “Mac” Sellers led the Wooster High varsity football team between 1976–1998, and won 250 of 295 games over 27 seasons as head coach. He won eight state championships which is more than any other football coach in Nevada high school history.
Wooster is also well known for its wrestling program, which has dominated the state and national wrestling tournaments for many years.
Wooster’s softball team was one of the best in the nation from 2000-2003. The Colts won Nevada’s 4A (large school) state titles four consecutive years while being ranked as high as 3rd in the nation by ESPN, and 5th in USA Today’s poll.[3]
The Colts’ baseball team won the 4A (large school) state title in 2002, along with the Northern Region title.
The Wooster Cheerleaders won the state championship in 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada thanks to the coaching of Angela Dodson and Erin Dastolfo. Cheerleaders are the only team that brought home a state title for the year 2006-2007. Wooster 279 Galena 278.
In 2007, the boys ski team went undefeated for the first time in school history and won the regional title.
Wooster’s school song is “The Wooster Fight Song.”
In 2007, the Wooster girls swim team went undefeated and won the league championship.
In 2008-2010, the Wooster boys swim team won the Sierra League Championship.
There is also volleyball, soccer, golf, tennis, cross country, lacrosse, and track among many others.
Music
The Band Program at Wooster has sent many of its members to Washoe County Honor Band, Nevada All-State Band, Nevada All-State Jazz Band, The Washoe County Solo and Ensemble Festival, Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, and the Nevada All-State Solo and Ensemble Festival. There are currently 105 band students. Look for the Wooster Band in the Veterans Day Parade, Holidazzle Parade, and the Vallejo Band Review.
Wooster’s Jazz Band participates in many out-of-school activities. The band has participated in the Reno Jazz Festival, the Folsom Jazz Festival, and placed first at the Vallejo Band Review among other events. The jazz band hosts an annual Dinner and Dance night in January. Wooster has two combos that allow students to focus on improvisation and creativity. The jazz band is currently led by Jonathan Phillips, Wooster’s fourth year band director and former member of the group Sol’Jibe.
The Music program offers a music appreciation course as well as an IB Music course. Students come from all parts of Washoe County to be a part of this distinguished program. It is the goal of the music program to see its student musicians succeed in college and be rewarded with scholarships.
The Wooster Choir has also performed well.
Wooster has a show (performance) choir.

JROTC
Wooster’s Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps has been very successful since its addition to curriculum as an elective in 1967. Their mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens, and have set a goal to give student cadets valuable leadership skills to use after high school.
Wooster retains one of the highest numbers of JROTC participants throughout the Washoe County School District, although Hug High School remains the only school in Northern Nevada with enough cadets to form a regiment instead of a battalion.
As of 2011, the Colts Battalion has received Honor Unit with Distinction for 34 consecutive years.
Wooster’s JROTC generally attends three drill meets per year: one hosted at Spanish Springs High School, one hosted at Reed High School, and a Brigade Drill Meet, taking home several trophies in recent years.
The Colts Battalion attends two parades per year: the Veterans Day Parade and the Nevada Day Parade. 2009 was the last year in which the battalion participated in the Christmas parade at Virginia City.
Cadets are given the option to participate in a seventh period Special Teams, which performs at drill meets. The program also hosts the Rifle Team, which shoots early in the school year.
Wooster’s JROTC is actively involved in community service. In 2010, under the command of Matthew Dionne, the battalion donated 8 tons of food to the Northern Nevada Food Bank during their annual Food Drive.
The Wooster Colts Battalion participates in the Cadet Olympics each year, and as of 2010 has remained in the top three schools for eight consecutive years.
A website for Wooster’s JROTC program was created early in 2011 by the battalion’s Public Affairs Officer.[4] The website allows visitors to browse photos, view the battalion’s chain of command, learn about the instructors, and post on the blog. It also contains a frequently asked questions section.

The Mystery of Barack Obama (Barry Soetoro) Continues

While Barack Obama aka Barry Soetoro tries to divert attention to Romney’s great wealth, the mystery of Barack Obama continues. Obama needs to be “open and transparent,” as he promised to be 4 years ago. The non-Fox media has given him a pass long enough because he is half-black and liberal. The non-Fox media needs to wake up, get off their hind ends, and do a job of investigative reporting.

The Mystery Of Barack Obama Continues

By Steve Baldwin for the Western Center for Journalism

obama 1 dreams of my father The Mystery of Barack Obama ContinuesMost Americans don’t realize we have elected a president whom we know very little about.

Researchers have discovered that Obama’s autobiographical books are little more than PR stunts, as they have little to do with the actual events of his life. The fact is we know less about President Obama than perhaps any other president in American history and much of this is due to actual efforts to hide his record. This should concern all Americans.

A nation-wide network of researchers has sprung up to attempt to fill in the blanks, but at every opportunity Obama’s high-priced lawyers have built walls around various records or simply made them disappear. It is estimated that Obama’s legal team has now spent well over $1.4 million dollars blocking access to documents every American should have access to. The question is why would he spend so much money to do this?

The president who campaigned for a more “open government” and “full disclosure” will not unseal his medical records, his school records, his birth records or his passport records. He will not release his Harvard records, his Columbia College records, or his Occidental College records—he will not even release his Columbia College thesis. All his legislative records from the Illinois State Senate are missing and he claims his scheduling records during those State Senate years are lost as well. In addition, no one can find his school records for the elite K-12 college prep school, Punahou School, he attended in Hawaii.

What is he hiding? Well, for starters, some of these records will shed light on his citizenship and birth.

For example, Obama’s application to Punahou School – now mysteriously missing – would likely contain a birth certificate. And, obama 2 scott and barry 3rd grade 1969 punahou school in hawaii The Mystery of Barack Obama Continuesaccording to attorney Gary Kreep, “his Occidental College records are important as they may show he attended there as a foreign exchange student.” Indeed, Obama used his Indonesian name “Barry Soetoro” while attending Occidental. Kreep has filed lawsuits challenging Obama’s eligibility to be president and as part of his lawsuit he requested Obama’s records from Occidental. However, Obama’s lawyers quickly moved to stop Occidental from honoring this request.

Furthermore, now that at least three document authentication experts have declared the scanned “Certificate of Live Birth” Obama’s campaign team gave to a pro-Obama website to be an obvious phony; we know that he is hiding something here as well.

Over 49 separate law suits have been filed on the eligibility/birth certificate issue alone, with several of the suits making it all the way the United States Supreme Court, only to be denied a full hearing.

obama 3 saudi prince al walid bin talah The Mystery of Barack Obama Continues

Pictured: Saudi Prince Al-Walid bin Talah

What’s more, there are questions about how he paid for his Harvard Law School education since, despite a claim by Michele Obama, no one has produced any evidence that he received student loans. The Obamas will not release any student loan details despite repeated requests from the Chicago Tribune. However, it appears that his Harvard education may have been paid for by a foreign source. Khalid Al-Mansour, an advisor to Saudi prince Al-Walid bin Talah, told Manhattan Borough president, Percy Sutton, that he was raising money for Obama’s Harvard tuition. Incidentally, Prince Tala is the largest donor to CAIR, a Muslim group declared by the U.S. Government in 2007 as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorist financing trial. At least three of CAIR’s leaders have been indicted for terrorist activities. Al-Mansour’s admission opens up speculation as to whether Muslim interests have assisted Obama’s career in the hope he would eventually be in a position someday to promote their interests.

More recently, it was discovered that Obama’s Selective Service card may have been doctored. Federal law requires all American males to register for the Selective Service (the draft) in case a major war broke out. Blogger Debbie Schlussel has discovered solid evidence that Obama’s Selective Service registration form was submitted not when he was younger as required, but rather in 2008 and then altered to look older. Indeed, the forgers forgot to alter the “Document Location Number” which shows that it is clearly a 2008 form. This is fraud and it’s a felony and Schlussel’s allegations are backed up by Stephen Coffman, a former high-ranking Federal agent. Moreover, the document shows a September 4th, 1980 date and the location of the transaction as Hawaii, but at that time Obama was thousands of miles away attending Occidental College in Los Angeles.

The real reason why Obama probably did not submit this form as a teenager is that he assumed his Kenyan or Indonesian citizenship exempted him from this requirement. But clearly, as he grew older and entered politics, he saw that any documents revealing a foreign birth – Selective Service registration, birth certificate, school applications, etc – would be problematic if he ran for the presidency. Thus, it is not a coincidence that every document which contains information about his birth or citizenship is either missing, sealed, or has been altered.

Indeed, everywhere one looks into Obama’s background, we find sealed records, scrubbed websites, altered documents, deception and unanswered questions. Can anyone imagine for a second if John McCain or George Bush had blocked access to his school, medical, and birth records? It would have been headlines in their case,  but as with everything else concerning Obama, the media has given him a pass on this.

Of all these marvels, the latest mystery and probably most perplexing is that of Obama’s social security number. It appears that Obama has multiple identities in term of possessing numerous social security numbers. Orly Taitz, an attorney who has filed numerous suits against Obama regarding his eligibility to serve as president, appears to have been the first to discover this. In her suit, representing a number of military officers who are refusing to serve under an ineligible commander in chief, she hired private investigator Neil Sankey to conduct research on Obama’s prior addresses and Social Society numbers. Using Intelius, Lexis Nexis, Choice Point and other public records, Sankey found around 25 Social Security numbers connected with Obama’s name.

However, it may not be as many as 25, since Sankey also searched using closely related names such as: “Barak Obama,” “Batock Obama,” “Barok Obama,” and “Barrack Obama.” There may very well be some Kenyans living in America with the same last name and a similar first name. In any case, I will exclude these records for the purpose of this research and focus only on names spelled exactly like his name. Moreover, we can verify many of the Social Security numbers as valid since they’re connected to addresses at which we know Obama resided. Needless to say, there are also a slew of address and social security numbers connected to addresses in states that Obama has no known connection to.

In Obama’s home state, Illinois, Sankey tracked down 16 different addresses for a Barack Obama or a Barack H. Obama, of which all are addresses he was known to have lived at. Two Social Security numbers appear for these addresses, one beginning with 042 and one starting 364.

In California, where Obama attended Occidental College, there are six addresses listed for him, all within easy driving distance of the college. However, there are three Social Security numbers connected to these addresses, 537 and two others, each beginning with 999.

There are no addresses listed in New York where he attended Columbia University, but there is one listed for him in nearby Jackson, NJ, with a Social Security number beginning with 485.

obama 4 713 hart senate office building The Mystery of Barack Obama Continues

713 Hart Senate Office Building

In Massachusetts – where Obama attended Harvard Law School – we find three addresses, all using the 042 Social Security number. After Obama was elected to the United States Senate in 2005, he moved into an apartment at 300 Massachusetts Ave NW; the Social Security number attached to that address is the 042 one. Yet, three years later, Obama used a different Social Security number for an address listed as: 713 Hart Senate Office Building. This was the address of his United States Senate office. This Social Security number began with 282 and was verified by the government in 2008.

This mystery grows even stranger as other addresses and Social Security numbers for Barack Obama appear in a dozen other states not known to be connected to him. Again, I am excluding those records names not spelled exactly like his name.

  • Tennessee, one address with a Social Security number beginning with 427
  • Colorado, one address, with a Social Security number beginning with 456.
  • Utah, two addresses, with two Social Security numbers beginning with 901 and 799.
  • Missouri has one address and one Social Security number beginning with 999.
  • Florida has two addresses listed for his him, three if you count one listed as “Barry Obama.” One is connected to a Social Security number beginning with 762.
  • In Georgia there are three addresses listed for him, all with different Social Security numbers: 579, 420, and 423.
  • In Texas there are four different addresses listed for him, one is connected to Social Security number 675.
  • There are two addresses listed for Barack Obama in Oregon and one address listed for him in  the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

All told, there are 49 addresses and 16 different Social Security numbers listed for a person whose name is spelled “Barack Obama.” In some cases, the middle initial “H” is listed. If you were to expand the search to include closely related names such as: “Barac,” “Barak,” and “Barrack” Obama, you would find more than a dozen additional addresses and Social Security numbers.

Finally, the one Social Security number Obama most frequently used, the one beginning with 042, is a number issued in Connecticut sometime during 1976-1977, yet there is no record of Obama ever living or working in Connecticut. Indeed, during this time period Obama would have been 15-16 years old and living in Hawaii at the time.

Nevertheless, all this mystery surrounding Obama appears to be a generational thing. Researchers have discovered nearly a dozen aliases, at least two different Social Security numbers, and upwards of over 99 separate addresses for Ann Dunham, his mother. We do know she worked for the ultra liberal Ford Foundation but we also know she may have earned some income from pornographic poses, as evidenced by photos recently discovered by some researchers—how embarrassing. The only thing researchers are able to find out about Obama’s mother is the fact she made porn. I’m sure that’s a first for presidential mothers.

But we also know that Obama’s mother and grandparents associated with Communist Party leaders such as Frank Marshall Davis, a man who, according to Obama’s book, Dreams from my Father, was his main mentor during much of his Hawaiian boyhood (although Obama tried to disguise his identity in his book). During the Cold War, Davis was named by congressional investigators as a key member of a secretive pro-Soviet networked that existed in Hawaii at that time.

The lack of documents regarding Obama also extends to his mother and to his grandparents. Indeed, researchers have been unable to find marriage licenses for his mother’s two marriages, assuming she was ever legally married. Ditto goes for the marriage license for Ann’s parents. They cannot find birth certificates for her, her parents, or for even for her grandparents. Even more so, despite Obama’s boast of his grandfather’s military service, there’s no record of that either. For reasons no one knows, much of Obama’s life, his mother’s life and his grandparent’s life has been erased from the records as if they never existed.

But why would someone obtain so many Social Security numbers? According to investigators, those who create additional Social Society numbers are typically engaged in criminal activities such as Social Security fraud, tax fraud, real estate fraud, campaign

contributions fraud, voter fraud and so on. While the private investigator who compiled this list says multiple social security numbers does not automatically prove there’s criminal activity involved, he states that “having said that, I have personally experienced many, many cases where such information has led to subsequent exposure of fraud, deception, money laundering and other crimes.“What is interesting to note is that Obama’s grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, was a volunteer at the Oahu Circuit Court probate department and had access to the Social Security numbers of deceased people.

It is clear that more research needs to be done on this issue. The Western Center for Journalism

( http://www.westernjournalism.com) is inviting readers to join the search for the truth. If you have any information about any of the addresses listed, they would love to hear from you.
